  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the delegated authority team as the delegated authority analyst. My role focuses on on boarding Managing General Agents/Coverhoders into the Lloyd's market, which will allow them to underwrite on our behalf. In addition to this, I conduct due diligence on existing Coverholders and their binding authorities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my role, and has exceeded my expectations. The apprenticeship scheme has been beneficial, and given me good experience and a qualification. However the some of the tasks set by the apprenticeship provider can be tedious and feel unnecessary on top of my work load.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Internally the programme has been structured well, and we get great support from our team, HR etc. with regards to additional training, exams and revision time. However, the apprenticeship provider was very unorganised during my first year, which has led to a lack of confidence in the provider. This year however, we have a new coach from the provider, and the programme has started off on a better note, so I am more hopefully with the programme for this year.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary and package is enough for me to live off and save money, and additional benefits such as sport memberships helps save money. However I understand similar roles in other Managing Agencies get a higher salary.

  • 9. Would you recommend Hiscox to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great company to work for, with very friendly and supportive staff. I do have reservations regarding the apprenticeship scheme, however my cohort of apprentices was the first year with our provider, and I believe this may be the reason for the issues during my first year. Now, halfway through my second year I can already see the improvements.
