  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • maintenance engineering on advanced engineered systems within the automotive manufactucturing industry. day to day maintenance includes planned maintenance on pressing equipment or sub assembly automation, however also invcluder reactive maintenance in the cas of breakdowns. as an apprentice i work with highly skilled engineers and learn the skills of the trade from a proffesional point of view to ensure the work completed is as high as quality as possible. sometimes work varies from planned maintenance and reactive maintenance because as an apprentice i will also be challenged with projects that can benefit myself or the company often working indivdually or in teams. the benefits of this role are good because BMW aims for you to complete your apprenticeship with all the neccessary skills which dosent just contain practical ability but also life skills and team working skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoy and gain personal satisfactiuon over completing tasks to a good standard and returning components or systems to operational states. i also enjoy representing BMW group as a company due to their well regarded brand image it exceeded my expectations of what i though it would be like and i enjoyed it further as i got further into it, however found it at times, quite pressurising by the high workload demands but got through it in the end with a bit more effort on my behalf, i enjoy all the support from everyone involved in BMW as it has really helped me develop as an apprentice and as a person and ways to deal with challenges.

  • as an apprentice i was suprised just how valued BMW group made me feel. good things are often recognised and appreciated both from people within bmw and people outside of bmw. as i got more into my apprenticeship i began being valued as a skilled employee as well as an apprentice and a quite high level of trust was shown which made me feel rather valued, especially when working in the pressing facility where you are often involved in teams working on large jobs.
