I worked as a technology consulting analyst within the Horizons scheme. My role varied from project management and administration hoc work for a leading travel agency to data processing for a pension scheme.
I have developed numerous skills relevant to consulting as well as aspects of my prospective academic career. Most valuable include efficient excel use, learning new business tools and understanding the structure of project delivery within accenture consulting.
I really enjoyed the programme - I got to meet so many inspiring people who taught me a lot about Accenture and the projects I was on. It would have been ideal if I spent less time on the bench so that I could be as involved with various projects as possible.
I feel that the personal interaction with both HR and the scheduling team has been really great - they were attentive and scheduling in particular really helped with finding me roles as well as side of desk work. I also really valued the advice and time given to me by my managers on the projects.
I feel that the programme was fairly well organised from the outset in terms of onboarding however it would have been easier if there was an intern specific demand list to find projects on the bench. Regardless, the project was well organised.
The first week we received a significant amount of training as well as practical experience through the Amazon presentation. I also found the extensive access to MyLearning extremely valuable.
Very much, there was an easy to follow line of communication when an issue or query occured.
The salary provided was extremely competitive, it was enough to meet my costs adequately as well to contribute to savings.
There were very many social opportunities outside of the workplace as well as opportunities to help with various recruitment events.
Yes
I believe this programme provides a unique opportunity for school leavers to experience consulting and corporate work life in a realistic manner. It gave me opportunities to learn things I would never be able to outside of Accenture.
Knowing what you are interested in, in particular as well as taking an active interest in Accenture's activities within consulting as well as other sectors. Being able to speak passionately about something Accenture has done that interests you is also key. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to ask for advice or more information.
