  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • in the rolls royce woodshop we use a varity of different veneers and use many different machines. you get to work with many different types people and personalities. you have to work to high standard so there is a lot of responsibilites to get each part to its best. as apprentices we also get set many different projects to get pn with aswell as the normal day to day work. we also get to move around the different area's this allows us to get trained in all departments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, we go to college two days a week. this helps us to devlop skills outside of work in a diferent environment. we also get taught on the types of wood, where it comes from, and many other things. at the end of the furniture courses we get a level 3 qulification in furniture manufacturing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoy some of the work here more than others, however i really like some of the people who we work with as they are easy to talk to and can have a laugh with. also the compay benifits are great as you can get many of them.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • at rolls royce we get to be involved in many different projects, so this makes us feel as if we are very involved in the company. also we get regular college interviews this allows us to have targets set and lets us know how we are getting on. we also get recognition from other associates as they let us know when were doing something well.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • yes the programme is very well structured this allows the course run smoothly with no hiccups. i think the programme works well running along side our college course as they both use the same skills, and both require simillar training. also we have regular college reviews so this also allows us to get updated feedback on how we are doing and able to set up new targets.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • we get quite alot of support from our training provider, if we ever get stuck of behind on work, they are always there to help. also theyre always happy to stay on later or come in on a different day to help catch up aswell.there is a also quite a postive attituide around the course and the lecturers.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we get quite a lot of support we have a monthly apprenitce meeting where we talk about projects we are working on and any events that have come up. we can also talk a bout any issues or problem weve got aswell. we also have a college mentor between works college who comes in and we have a meeting about how we are doing.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • my salary meets my costs well, however travel does take into account quite abit, and at the start it was quite unusual to get used to, but all in all its good.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • during the summer there is family fun days where they can host a varity of different events. in the winter there was a winter wonderland day so this allows a lot of people to get to know each other.

  • Yes

  • because there is so many oppotuinites and dicrections you can go when your in. there is also many different perks and benifits you can recive. also the pay that you can recive is also very good and working for such a preistene company makes you look great.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • be confident when going for an interview as they can be quite long. you can go many different directios when you work for them so you dont just have to stay in the same area and can get a varity of work, which most people prefer.
