Email Designer Review

My day to day role is an Email Designer, which means that I design that marketing emails that get sent to over 4 million people. I also design alot of other things such as posters, leaflets, social posts and website banners. I also have to work with alot of different people in the company.

I have really developed my photoshop skills, as i have been using photoshop for a number of years but i have really been able to fine tune and develop my skills. I have also really improved my Indesign and Illustrator skills, as this is something that i didn't really know how to properly use. I have also really improved my communication skills as i feel alot more confident in my day to day role as well as speaking to other people.

I enjoy my programme and my role alot as i feel that they have really enabled me to get used to an office environment in a way that isnt as intense as starting a full time job. I also enjoy that team that i work in as everyone is so friendly and especially when i have done presentations, they have all been really supportive. The company i work for is something that i also really enjoy as everyone in the company is so friendly.

I feel very valued by A.S Watson. I get alot of feedback from my team and often from people outside of the team.

I think the organisation of my programme is really strong as I have always had enough time to focus on my day to day role, aswell as completeing my apprenticeship. I feel that the induction process was really useful as we got presentations from one person from all the teams in the company, which has meant that i now have a better understanding of what each team does and i also have a face that i can go to, especially if i dont know anyone else. I have regular catchups with both my line manager and my apprentice assessor to ensure that i am on track and completeing all the work that i should be completing and to the correct time scale.

I receive alot of work from my training provider, with regular catchups and emails if i ever have any questions. I feel very confident speaking to my assessor if i have any questions or issues. I also feel like i am also pushed to ensure i get the most out of my qualification.

I recieve alot of support from my employer and they are always giving me the resources i need to improve and better myself. My line manager has given me alot of help to improve my design skills and it has enabled me to really improve the knowledge i have. The only negative is that whenever i have any HR issues, i dont really know who to talk to as we havent really had a introduction to people in that team. It would be helpful to have some form of induction so that i know who to talk to if i have any issues.

The only negative about my apprenticeship in general is the pay. Obviously i knew that apprentices wage is smaller, but my commute is quite expensive into work, and so it really takes a big chunk out of my wage. Although, working in croydon is a lot cheaper than working in London.

There are a lot of social events that we do as a team which really help everyone get closer as a team. As we are quite a close and friendly team, its really nice to take some time outside of work and just chill.

Because everyone is so friendly and welcoming and the actual knowledge and skills that i have acquired will really help me in every day life, and also in life once i have completed my apprenticeship. I feel like it is such a good place to get started into any career as there are alot of different possibilities to what you can learn.

Be yourself, when i had my interview my manager said that he could tell right away that i would fit in with the team because i tried to not be that nervous. Although it is hard to not let the nerves get the better of you, its still important to ensure that you get your true self across. In my role as a designer its important to show off the work you have done previously, and so i made sure to bring examples of my work, which i think also really helped me get my role.
