1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a quality technician. This involves taking calls from the line for potentially supplier defected parts and investigating whether or not it is a supplier issue or not. If it is then it is a case of contacting the supplier and sending parts back to them and charging.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Over the apprenticeship we've been picking up various smaller qualifications through college as we go which has been really useful. I don't feel like I learn so much when at work in my department however since being on placements I've learnt loads.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy working where I however I'm keen to find a department I'm better suited to, to help with job satisfaction and inspire harder work. Mostly, everyone is helpful and nice at work which is good. As far as the college goes, I'm less of a fan as there is so little organisation it really de-motivates you.

4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?

Some departments are different to others, some I feel extremely part of the team where they trust be and give me responsibilities whereas some places I feel like an apprentice getting 'apprentice jobs'.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's all a bit of a mess: finding out college start dates 3-4 weeks after the year has started, the units to be carried out at college seemed like they were made up as we went along. When asking for advice from tutors/co-ordinators, nobody seems to know any answers.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

The college is pretty good with support for assignments and coursework however it all depends on the tutor really.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

A good amount from managers that I'm in the department of whether it be a placement or permanent. Don't really hear from HR since the first year. Employees around the plant are mostly all very helpful.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

Living at home my social costs are my highest costs and it leaves me without money the majority of the time but that's my fault.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

There are some, such as projects with primary schools.

9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?

9b. Why?

I don't think the apprenticeship is quite what I personally was expecting when I first started which I dont think my friends would enjoy or stick about for.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?

Make sure you're confident but humble anywhere you go, this will definitely show to people around work that you're a mature apprentice and will help with opportunities in the future.
