Team Manager Review

My job title is FOS Team Manager. I am a people manager and have a team of 13 advisers. My team are responsible for responding to complaints brought to the company via the Financial Ombudsman Service. My day to day involves monitoring workloads, liaising externally with FOS and holding coaching sessions with my advisers.

So far I'm not that far into my programme. I have attended a training course on people management which has been really helpful. Most of this I already knew but was a great refresher course. I am currently working a module on different management styles and how to adapt to different people.

So far I'm really enjoying this course. Its pushing me out of comfort zone, which is one of the reasons I signed up for the course. As I said earlier, I'm still new to the course but I am finding it very interesting.

Recently, I attended an afternoon tea at a lovely hotel as a thank you for all my hardwork. It was a really special day and made me feel valued.

We have an onsite team dedicated to training. They offer lots of support and advice. My manager is also very supportive, making sure I get the time I need to attend courses.

My talent coach is amazing. She is always on hand to offer support. I've been having some IT issues and she has sorted them for within a couple of hours. I am due to go off an have a baby soon and I was worried about my progress, she has helped to put my mind at ease and we have come up with a good plan to get prevent me from getting to far behind.

My direct manager is supportive and understands that I need time in work to complete this course and attend external training days.

As I live within a 20 minute drive from my office, travel costs is not really an issue.

There are many chances to do company events and charity events. There is always something happening that we can get involved in, including spending a day with a charity of our choice.
