  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work as a software development associate. My Day to day tasks currently include writing code for a platform that we offer our clients as a service/product. On a daily basis we have a stand up where we catch up with the team tell each other what we got up to yesterday and plans for the day and raise any issues we may have.My responsibilities include writing code for new features and proof of concepts for our clients within the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship itself leads to a bachelors in science honors degree. However in addition to this I have gained numerous other soft skills and hard skills. To think that last September i did not know how to write a single line of code and now have the same coding responsibilities as graduates within the team. In terms of public speaking skills I have greatly improved my presentation and public speaking skills due to the huge variety of opportunities that have been available to me so far.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall so far I absolutely love my experience and the thing I get up to to break it down further. My current team is amazing and really helpful and support me in all aspects of my apprenticeships be it explaining certain topics or providing extra time to catch up with universities.this really exceeded all my expectation that i had of the programme prior to joining.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I feel an extremely valued member of the organisation and respected as an individual. We have monthly feedback which are a great source of insight into how you're doing and my achievements in the given period. Internally the company has annual apprentice of the year awards and other incentives which act as a really cool incentive to strive to be nothing short of excellence.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme itself is very structured and organised. When you join you get a boot-camp in coding to get you up to speed and enable you to start working on live projects with live clients. After that we attend university every Monday and every 6 months or so attend for uni for 2 weeks to cover a module in a block time period rather than once a week.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There more avenues of support available than i have necessarily needed. Everyone gets a career counselor who helps forge your career within the company, Apprentice ambassadors who act as your spokesperson between the company and university and academic advisers to counsel on everything university related.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is always something to do outside your role. I'm personally involved a lot with promoting apprenticeships around the country and absolutely enjoy going out to events to do so. in addition there are numerous socials where you get to mingle with your colleagues in a social setting. From breakfast in the sky gardens to Ping pong in the evenings at bounce there are loads of opportunities to socialise.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • All the reasons mentioned above :)
