  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Within Accenture, my current role is SIT Testing where I am responsible for the managing the Oracle User Accounts. I also sit with the Testing team and help with the creation of the test scripts. Whilst not on my project, I attend the University of East London where I am studying for my BSC Digital and Technology Solutions Degree.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time here at Accenture, I have learnt many skills such as how to create users on Oracle and how to use different applications such as QAComplete (whilst on my project). In addition to learning new skills on my project, I have also learnt new skills at University such as coding in Java. Every Friday, we also have the opportunity to join a skype call to learn Python.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed being at Accenture, especially due to me having such a great close team that I work with. I have also been lucky in the sense that I was asked to help out with the Women In Technology Event at the Shard, and also was asked to help out with the Brunel University Visit.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • As a whole, I feel as though I am valued to the company – for example, whenever I have a problem, I just need to message HR and they get this sorted almost immediately. However In terms of my project, I feel as though that I am viewed as nothing more than an apprentice, therefore I have just been given roles such as admin.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When I first joined Accenture, I felt as though the programme was rather unorganised - mostly due to initial plans being changed eg. The University that we were initially told we were going to (Roehampton) ended up getting changed to University of East London (Which in all honesty was very disappointing). However time has gone on, it has become more structured and the support (such as from HR, careers councillors, Apprentice Ambassadors etc has massively improved and are always there for us to help).

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I feel there is a massive lack of support from the University. Even though that have us a mentor, they are always so busy that they seem as though they don’t have the time and I barley even see my mentor around the campus. Previously when we have asked for help, we got told that they didn’t have time to help us.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Accenture has been helpful to support us Apprentices, for example like I have mentioned in a question above, they have assigned careers councillors and Apprentice Ambassadors to us. They contact us fairly regularly to ensure that we are on track and have no issues.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Since I started at Accenture, we have received a pay rise which was greatly appreciated. This is helped out with monthly costs such as travel. However, for someone who lives outside of London and would potentially have to pay to live in London, it would not leave them with enough money for living eg buying food and electricity bills.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We have had many exceptional socials such as the TAG Christmas Party, however there are many other events that as apprentices I feel as though we don't really get invited to that many, even though Accenture is mostly about Networking and meeting new people. This as a result makes it harder for us to find new roles as it seems as though no one wants to take on apprentices.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Accenture seems to be a great place to gain exceptional experience in 120 different industries, all being so different due to the vast variety of clients. It's a sociable company which is great to meet new friends and new professional relationships - great for getting the chance to join new projects.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Make sure that you show that you are extremely passionate about technology. In addition, be yourself in the interview. Accenture likes personable people who are bubbly and sociable, yet also gets on well in a team environment - if you are this type of person then they will be able to see your traits during the interview.
