  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The first week involved proving our presentations skills. This meant that we had to create a product and present this product we had created to the team members that work in EY. We leanred skills about what it takes to be a good leadership and then acted out roles. The second week was a business experience week where I was placed in Tax I shadowed a person who works there and watched and helped her carry out daily tasks such as comparing old and new documents.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the program as it gave me an idea on what I wanted to pursue in the future. I have now made up my mind that I want to do the buisness apprenticeship programme instead of going to university.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • As a smart futures student I feel really valued by EY. During the programme we were treated as actual employees ( especially during the actual business experience week). Even after the programme we are still informed of the new events that take place within the EY foundation. For example, we were informed about the Womens tech network day in which some of the smart futures students, including me, attended and enjoyed. Everyone at the EY foundation was really kind and welcoming I felt like I knew everyone there and I didnt really like a work experince student at all but more like an actual employee.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well organised was there were two weeks. The first week really helped us build our self confidence by presenting infront of eachother. This week not only improved our confidence but also helped us meet new people. The second week was the actual buisness experience week. It was during this week we actually had a good insight on what it would actually be like working in EY.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We were each given a buddy to shadow on the programme. This was really helpful as one person could pay close attention to us throughout the whole programme. If we have any questions we could easily approach them and ask them as many questions as we would like. Each buddy was also really kind and understanding that we were beginners so not alot of pressure was put on the smart futures students

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Overall the experince was great and getting paid was just a benefit. The salary a moderate amount given compared to all the great times we had. It covered all the travel and food costs and a large amount of the money was even left over .
