  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a team leader in Direct Line Group leading the Customer Service Social Media team on a daily basis. This means I communicate with areas of the business such as marketing, claims etc to gather information and build relationships so my team can provide an end to end service on Social Media. I have monthly one to ones with my team to monitor their progress and set actions and goals for the upcoming months. I interact with my team of 12 consultants on a daily basis to ensure they are fully supported to carry out their role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so much since being on my level 3 leadership diploma. I have learnt a lot about myself as a leader I have identified my key strengths and improvement areas hand have a quality PDP in place from this. I have also learnt other leadership theories and which to use in each circumstance. I have learnt to manage my own workload better through simple tasks such as the '4 D's' which I use on a daily basis. The main learn I have got so far is producing cases for change within businesses and how these work, how much resource goes into decisions, who needs to be involved and the importance of ensuring everything is signed off correctly. This has in turn helped me create cases for change in my team

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love the course I am completing and it helps me on a daily basis. It has helped me in interactions with my team on an individual basis and one on one. It met and exceeded my expectations to be honest and I was blown away with how much I learnt about myself so early on. I enjoy doing the course and I am enjoying learning each time I log on. I also have taken on additional roles in work (cases for change as the lead project manager almost) to be able to help me in my course.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Direct Line?
  • I feel extremely valued and putting me on this course is a show case of that on its own. The company believe in me enough to invest into me which is proof enough of how much the company want me to succeed and grow as the return on investment for them is a leader with more skills and qualities to bring out the best in my people.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction I received was good but I learnt more getting on the data base and doing it. I think I was one of the first in DLG to do this course itself so we didn't know what to expect. Work have supported me with everything I need throughout the role as I have a mentor in work. Babington are on hand should I need them who are pretty quick at responding should I email any queries.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Babington are great at providing support. The only feedback I have is the workshops aren't well organised due to the fact that there aren't many learners in Doncaster meaning they aren't planned in. Apart from that, no issues at all with the training provider and everyone I have spoken to is very friendly and helpful

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive more than enough support. |I have a mentor at work in my manager so I receive any support i need through them. Numerous areas of the business have helped me throughout my course and everyone is approachable and gives there time when they can as different areas can assist me in different aspects. My Centre manager has also helped me throughout this time

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is fine no issues with this. I live close to work so travel in the car and my salary allows me to live the lifestyle I want to live. My location of work is Doncaster and so is my office so this is convenient and close. All costs are comfortably covered by work

  • Yes Direct Line helped a lot of charities so there is always opportunities to do work for charity events i..e dragon boat races etc. The company puts on a couple of annual parties a year - summer and Xmas as well as a large awards doo each year where you get nominated to attend - this is well organised and a privilege to be invited to
