  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Throughout my apprenticeship I have done several placements in departments within the business. I am currently working in the project engineering department which involves speaking directly with customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Schneider has allowed me to develop many skills. Since I started working at Schneider, I have gained confidence, achieved a good understanding of the products that are manufactured and how they operate and also I developed my communication skills after having the experience of working with customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed working at Schneider of the past three and a half years. This is because each day is different and I have worked a various different departments within the business.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Schneider Electric?
  • This varies on which department that I am working in. In certain departments, where I have been given challenging tasks which if I complete, I feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the start of the apprenticeship, the training program was pretty good, but there has been some departments which I have missed out on going in throughout my apprenticeship. Generally it has been structured well and Schneider has enables us to do college work if required which is a benefit.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider has really helped to push forward my NVQ by pushing for us to go on site I n order to complete the modules required.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Schneider has been very supporting throughout the apprenticeship as they have allowed time within work hours to do college work and also they have given me the opportunity to attend training courses.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I am happy with my pay at Schneider, there is a canteen which sells hot and cold food at breakfast and dinner time and also the is a free car park which is a major advantage when working in a city centre.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is a weekly 5 a side football that occurs which I take part in and enjoy, but I think there should be a few more opportunities throughout the year which would allow more employees to get involved.

  • 9. Would you recommend Schneider Electric to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Schneider Electric allows employees to develop and take further training. This is an advantage because it allows people to develop new skills and learn more about the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?
  • To be relaxed as all the staff are easy to talk. Also I would say that they should ask questions and show a good interest in what is being said.
