  • Planning and surveying sites to later write up packs the contractors will use to do the works.

  • Planning in general, identifying asbestos and other potential issues. I have gotten better at building rapport and communicating with customers

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the on the work training a lot but the actual programme has only just been structured.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Virgin Media O2?
  • The first week I felt very valued, they sent us to Birmingham to meet fellow apprentices and paid for us to stay in a good hotel with food. However since then I have not felt valued, I have had to ask around to find any information I can about my own apprenticeship because no one seemed to know what was happening until 7 months in.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It took 7 months for virgin media to bring in an external assessor so we could actually start towards the certification, so I now have less than a year and a half to complete a 2 year apprenticeship while also having working responsibilities

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • hard to say at the minute as they have just been brought in. However there is no guided learning time, you must teach yourself everything.

  • A lot of support from my local team withy my day to day work.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Extremely good pay, I just still struggle slightly with costs due to the distance I must commute every day.

  • Engagement activities seem quite common and there are always events and competitions to enter within virgin media ,

  • Yes

  • very good pay, with very supportive colleagues an exciting role.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • Be yourself, virgin media want to mould younger people to suit job roles rather than going in with a set way of doing something which may prove difficult to change to suit virgin.
