  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am working both on the bar and with food, learning the correct procedures for good hygiene practice and to meet brand standards. I interact with customers, collegues from both back and front of house and convey important and relevent information to managers or supervisors. I am responsible in ensuring a good customer journey, food presentation, handling money, complaints and using the till IT software. Depending on the time of shift I can be responsible for setting up or closing the bar to the given standards.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the atmosphere created by the core team, and the summer additional staff. The job can be demanding, but its not overbearing when the staff work well together. The apprenticeship itself was less time consuming than I had thought and was able to work well with what I was learning on the job.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mitchells & Butlers?
  • Recognition for good work is pretty constant from managers, either in the group chat or in meetings, whether its a general acknowledgement or just one person. Managers are good at working with my personal needs and do work around personal issues as much as they can, wich is fantastic.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very Well organised training from my online learning and the support from my trainer. Although subjects are bound to overlap it never leaves you clueless on a particular aspect. If unsure the trainer is always available to help.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • A lot. The trainer is always available by text or email. Phone calls are frequent to record how far I have got with the work and to make sure I am on track. Regular meetings allow me to wget work done in a sensible time frame but also help me bring up any issues with the work before it becomes a last minute issue.

  • I do over time in my spare time to ensure financial income.
