  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is Project Management Office Co-ordinator, this means I have to deliver estimates to Finance department, Task estimates, produce resource to demand charts calculate invoice for the month and year, consolidate all information, and complete any project given to me by the Project Support Office. I also help to chair meetings that are monthly to review demand data.

  • I have learnt lots of new skills, I've become capable at using Microsoft Project 2016 Professional, which is the version I currently use. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm really enjoying my programme so far, I've managed to take the role on quite well and I'm beginning to take on more and more tasks as I progress further. I'm starting to handle the basics a lot better now which is giving me the opportunity to take on more Projects and to develop more skills in the workplace such as communication, data analysis and leadership.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by 3M UK?
  • I feel very valued as a team member, I'm often given important tasks to do which have huge time constraints and often are required by very senior management in decision making. I'm also valued when I chair meetings and make suggestions during these meetings, along with this comes writing up the minutes and actions and reviewing them at the start of the next scheduling meeting, everyone takes it as seriously as every other meeting.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme so far has been fairly well organised by QA (my trainer) however we did have a few blips at the start of my programme but I think that we have ironed them out now and at the moment revision and the training courses are going well and I feel like every week I'm more and more confident about the exam coming up in late July/early August. The best support I've had is the time given to me whilst at work as they have been very supportive of my training and apprenticeship

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training Provider as a company were shakey to start with, although luckily my current skills coach is very helpful and he has a great in depth knowledge of the subject, I know that I can contact him whenever I need and he will get back to me with answers/advise or even exam questions if I have asked him to provide with some. So, overall the training provider has been good.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very good at giving me support. Both in the sense that they will give me time when I need to do work on Portfolio or mock exam questions or when I have a question, one of the Project Managers is likely to know the answer and step aside from their job for a minute and run through a question with me to make sure that I understand it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is satisfactory with my costs. I get 2 buses to work so it has a bit of a toll on my overall pay but nothing really to complain about on that front. I think considering I'm getting a qualification and on the job experience working at a very large and successful company, the pay is actually not important to me and the training and qualification is number 1.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities for me to do my apprenticeship work outside of work environment, I have time on weekends and after work to crack on with my Portfolio and revision for my exam, I think the important learning is done when you can sit on your own and go through the areas that you struggle with the most, then make them your best areas, that's the way that I like to revise.

  • 9. Would you recommend 3M UK to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because all the staff at 3M are so welcoming and kind and theres a very inclusive atmosphere at the company, as soon as I joined I felt like I was part of something bigger than just my job. From the top to the bottom of the company there is a great mentality between employees. I hope to stay on at 3M after my apprenticeship has finished.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to 3M UK?
  • When I applied I was just myself, I didn't try to be someone else, I think as long as you are nice and hardworking they'll take you on. Theres no point in trying to be someone that you aren't because you'll have to wear a mask. You have to have confidence in your own ability and trust yourself to make the correct decisions.
