  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the Business Operations Team within Global Operations. We are responsible for looking after/providing support to both R&D and Office facilities in Europe, Middle East & Africa. I raise purchase orders for rents and anything which affects a building. I track spend, forecast and budget for the year. I interact with many colleagues from all over the world daily.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As this is my second year, I didnt need another induction etc. However, my contractor changed (from Morgan Jones to Guidant) and I feel as though they are not structured or organised. They do not answer my emails/questions and do not provide information to me. When they first took over, I was missed out in alot of their emails.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I recently turned 21 and I did not receive the minimum wage (as I was in my second year of an apprenticeship I should have) and I was dissapointed that I had to request it and then wait 3/4 weeks before I received it. Some people may not feel confident enough to ask and therefore would miss out on what they are legally entitled to. After tax I get 250 a week, £23.50 a week is spent on the bus (sometimes £40+ a week if i need to use a train on the weekends) I then spend £27 a week on driving lessons, £10 a month on my phone and £50 a week rent. I then have 100 - 150 to spend on my social life and save as I am trying to save for a car/car insurance and a mortagage so I can move out. I don't think my salary meets costs as a 21 year old very well as I am trying to juggle all of these things at the same time. It is stressful as buying a house and a car are very important to me but it is very hard to save on the salary I am on.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Because of where I live (Wingham) there are not many opportunities outside of work. I dont have a train station and the last busses to/from Wingham are 10pm. If I drove it may be different but I havent passed yet and wont be able to afford a car for a while. All events/classes/sports clubs cost money which I cant afford to loose. Although I would like to. I have been to two company events outside of work which I really enjoyed and thought it was a great experience to build relationships and put names to faces of people I work with who live in many different countries.

  • 9. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think Pfizer is a great company to work for. The company is big and diverse and there are many oppurtunities to grow and expand your skills and knowledge. It is great to work in a company which improves and saves millions of peoples lives every year.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
  • I would advise others to research the department you are applying for so you know the background. You should also know the history of Pfizer and the different drugs they produce. I would advise others to take every oppurtunity they can and keep an open mind.
