  • First year of the programme was fun and I went on many courses and buddying to learn. Programme has been not existent after the first year though and I am doing the role fully.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • As part of a project team that I got myself on to at present time I feel very valued and part of a great team of people. The former role I initially was hired into I felt very alone and left to my own devices.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the first year was timetabled with pre programmed courses and buddying time. After the first year it all disappeared and I still have courses to complete for my NVQ requirements that I will have to sort myself.

  • I can ask anyone in my team for help when it comes to the job, but the apprentice manager I had has disappeared and my NVQ coach keeps changing.

  • I can ask anyone in my team for help when it comes to the job or welfare issues.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Happy with wage, for the first year as a learner and observer. Following years I am working the normal role on a lower wage than the normal engineers.

  • I receive many emails for volunteering and events.

  • Yes

  • Well paid, enjoyable interesting work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • seriously consider apprenticeships over university.
