Store Apprentice Review

Normal store assistant duties. Stick rotation. Serving customers. Etc

Till skills and stock skills. Including produce date rotating.

It’s a great career path and the people I work with are great. However more focus needs to be had on my apprenticeship side of things.

Not very if I’m honest, my store uses my off prod hours and yet I don’t use that time to do anything apprentishio related. Thus, I’m behind on my NVQ

I think this is the issue, there isn’t really much structure. I never know what going to happen. Majority of the time I’m sat on a till my whole shift.

Lifetime training are actually great and my trainer is pretty supportive. As much as I’ve asked her to be.

Again, this isn’t as much as I’d expect, however I understand, we don’t have huge HR departments and whatnot and we’re constantly busy. Credit to the management as hey have a lot to deal with, and my team try hard to be as supportive of me emotionally as they can

It doesn’t. I’m always constantly in debt. As I only earn £6per hour. Which is far more than most apprentiships. But not when I have bills to pay. Especially when I work shift where everyone gets double pay, except me. I also feel that any hours I do outside my contracted apprentiship hours should be paid at the standard store assistant rate.

I would highly recommend working at Aldi to anyone, but if you’re like me, 21, have your own rent and insurance etc, maybe steer away from the apprentiship.

Apply for positions other than the apprentiship unless you live with your parents?
