  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Administration- Sales tracking, Equipment allocation, delivery and execution, assisting the strategy for a CSR based program. ensuring decks, information and spreadsheets are up to date and ensuring mortised vehicles on our equipment fleet abide by legislation e.g taxed, SORN,etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Better communication, excellent development in use of IT systems, specific processes for Unilever as well as within my team Wall's ice cream and finally a excellent concept of the ice cream market and the commercials surrounding that specifically and what is required in a business environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program as it has given me an excellent insight into this profession and first class experience. it has developed me massievly from a professinal percpective but also from a personal development, as i know now exactly where i see myself and what i want to do.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Unilever?
  • Unilever is a very loving environment and i recive alot of appreciation and support especially from my manager and from collagues i directly work with. It honestly can be difficult to sometimes bond with other members of the team as an apprentice i feel but overall everyone is very pleasant.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The work and tasks set to me by my manager are in a very stuctured and clear manner. I recieve a proper explanation of what is at hand and the necessary support if i need additional help. The coursework side of the program is a little different to this however. the structure isn't as clear and the exam provide fails in a well organised strucutre and clarity of the task at hand. However i am well ahead on my coursework and have had no issues with missing deadlines or poor quality of work,

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Monthly reviews which are useful and provide good support but through the resources on their website it is extreamly limited.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Manager is the main source of support and despite my manager being in a field role meaning that i rarely see her, i still feel supported and have great access to this. The attiude of my manager in doing this is also extreamly positive and inspiring making me feel valued.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Just. luckily i am here for the experience but the salary is not excellent especially since travel costs these days are expensive.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Loads of opportunities to network, have additional training, charitable work and social events. e.g opportunity to partcipate in our team softball match to socialise and keep active.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • for someone to seek excellent professional development. The experience has allowed me to picture where i will be in the next few years and has given me the neccesary experience to make that more achievable.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Be yourself. This is the main phrase highlighted to cnadidate wanting to join Unilever. Don't try to be someone your not as Unilever need the right people with the right mindset to join their ranks. if you don't have the particular mindset and fail to get in it doesn't mean that you wearn't good enough, it simply means that your style of working doesn't suit Unilever culture.
