  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the Terminations team. My role includes dealing with customer queries, talking to customers as well as interacting with other departments around the business. On a day to day basis I answer emails and telephone calls, logging new termination request and completing internal checks that need to be completed before I can terminate the contract. I have to terminate contracts and accurately end bill/credit the customer if necessary, generating settlements and sending collections over to our logistics partner.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills while on my apprenticeship I have learnt the different systems that are used throughout the business as well as completing extra courses and training programs such as personal branding, presentation skills and time management skills courses. These extra programs and training workshops have helped me further develop on top of the coursework I am completing for my apprenticeship.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive multiple help from my training provider. If I am stuck or need help on any of the questions or sections I can email or phone her for help this allows me to always complete my set coursework for every month. The training guides are good however some of the questions are confusing and do not make much sense.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive help from most people around the department, my line manager helps me with securing me on external as well as internal training courses, I also get help from my assessor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who helps me with my coursework if I get stuck or don’t understand the questions. All the people that help me or have helped me are always positive this is because they are there to help me improve and develop my skills.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Although I took a pay cut from my last job to compete this apprenticeship the salary/package meets all the costs I have now, paying for rent, cars, petrol as well as other outgoings the salary is good for being an apprentice I am able to buy the things I like a pay as well into a pension fund and save. Canon also increase your salary if you get a permanent job within your apprenticeship which is very motivational to succeed and stay with Canon after my apprenticeship finishes.

Canon strive to ensure you develop your skills and help you with any problems or issues you might have. There is also a big motivation to do well and move between roles.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Canon UK?
  • I would recommend that you just be yourself, I applied originally for a different apprenticeship in another department however because of my previous experience they recommended me another apprenticeship that I found I would have preferred.
