  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Network Development - Creating the optimal network solutions which benefit the business best, not just at a site level. In this role I will deal with depot Logistics Managers and site managers to implement cost benefit and service changes. Projects are allocated such as fuel management.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Level 3 Logistics run by First4Skills. This means an external consultant comes in to teach the course to you. You will get a buddy which you can discuss things with you wouldn't want to with your manager.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is enjoyable and the team within NPC are all a great group of people. We all get on outside of work, not just within the workforce.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Gist Ltd?
  • Early on in the role it is difficult to feel valued. When you start to accept responsibility then this makes you start to feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In the second year this is far more structured than the first trial year. With the First4Skills looking after this it is very well structured.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Once a month she comes to visit to review the work we have done.

  • Some time is allocated by your manager to complete the tasks given by the training provider.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As I live at home the salary covers my limited expenditure.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is a lot that our company does for the local community. I can go help with charity events, local schools and areas. The company holds events for their managers.

  • Yes

  • The job opens up many opportunities to progress further unto the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gist Ltd?
  • The job needs to be one which will suit what you want to do. The practice of applying for a job is always useful, half of an interview is if they think you are suited to the job and the other half is if you connect the business.
