  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a service delivery engineer providing and repairing phone and broardband lines to both business and private customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have worked in maintenance and security roles in the past, so the whole job has been a learning experience. I now know how a phone system works and how to fault find, I have developed my health and safety awareness as part of my role too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I feel that this is my favourite job to date, I have enjoyed learning the new skills needed to carry out my role, and enjoy getting up and going to work in a morning, something that was lacking in my previous roles.

  • I think that BT value my input into the company, and feel they do all they can to help me progress in my role.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Despite a slow start in my NVQ work, the structure of the training has been very good.

  • My trainers are always at the end of the phone if needed, be it my nvq coach or practical job coach, I know I can always call if I get stuck.

  • I have always found the company to be very helpful providing any support needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think my salary is good for the role I do, with structured salary increases made very plain.

  • There are always opportunities to meet up with team members outside of work, with both social and charity events going on.

  • Yes

  • It is my favourite role to date.

  • The application process is long and drawn out, but it is well worth doing.
