  • i am a switch and transmission engineer i go out with a experienced engineer in the same field as me and shadow him and also get hands on experience also i have to complete nvq and a btec

  • btec in telecommunication and nvq also i have developed my ict and listening skills

  • the team is very friendly and because they are experienced engineers it becomes very helpful when i don't understand things

  • very valued as they are lots of events us apprentices can go to

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • its built up on 6 weeks within 1 year to complete your btec and then 3 years for your nvq and learn while shadowing

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • whenever i need support there is always someone there whenever i need it there are alot of people you can go to so your never alone and everyone is very helpful

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my manager supports me whenever i need help with any situation also the HR team also can help with personal problems at work and at home also they have a guidance thing for all field employees to see if you are okay as you got to sign in the morning and sign out when your done to see if your okay.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • if you work in London the central area you will be paid a London weigh in which is about 3000 and in outer London 1500 but the wage is very good compared to some other apprenticeships. there are also schemes you can get into such as shares.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are lots of events such as attending schools to help promote the apprenticeship and also activities events such as going to the bt tower and so on also there are lots of perks on the company website some of the mains are free bt sport and bt broadband

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • great company which is huge and always growing they are currently improving so much as a company not only in the UK but in other countries around the world with bt you can keep on switching roles which i think is one of the best things about the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • confidence, show your desire the application process consist of a situation strengths test which is done online which you rank 1-5 on what you would do in that situation then you have a online interview where you speak on a webcam but its just a recording not a actual person and if you pass that you go for to a assessment center
