  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I attend a lot of meeting and conference which along with my team have helped me learn about the HR and recruitment world. I gained more professional customer services skills as I have to email and call external customers daily.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my time here at network rail and have a lovely supportive team. I am learning new things all the time and being shown new things to do.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Network Rail?
  • I feel appreciated by my manager and my team as well as some of the hiring managers I arrange interviews for. Also with external candidates for helping with their needs from rearranging interviews to sending them more details on the job they have applied for

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think my programme is well structured including both work and college. I attend college one day a month, I was given the dates I would be attending college at the beginning of my course. I have regular meetings with my manager and my college tutor to assess how I am getting on.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider, as mentioned in my answer above I attend monthly college sessions as well as having monthly visits at work from my tutor. If I am struggling with a task I am able to ask my tutor for help and if I am struggling to finish work set on time I can ask for an extension.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is very supportive and helps with any queries or issues I may have. We have regular review meetings and one to ones. I talk to her about my college task and she provides me with information that may help me with the task, such as powerpoints network rail have.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my costs- higher than I expected for an apprenticeship and better than most apprentices get paid.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We are given a number of days each year to be able to do volunteering should we wish. I am able to attend many external and internal events such as conferences and team building.

  • Yes

  • It is a great company to work for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
  • The application process can sometimes take a while so be patient. Ensure you bring your right to work documentation along to your interview. Attend assessment days should you be invited.
