  • My role as a trainee engineers involves providing new services to customers and repairing faults on the network.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, such as the safe climbing of poles and how telecoms works. I have also developed my existing interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, every day is a learning day. The support available is top class and there are endless opportunities for development.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • I feel very valued with BT, especially given this is a huge company. I feel well looked after and I am often recognised for my efforts.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The initial induction and training is top class. We hold regular manager and coaching days. We work as a team, supporting each other. We hold scheduled NVQ days to complete the work for our apprenticeship.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Support is always available if I need it, either by internal sites or by calling someone.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • BT offer as much support as you need. My manager is very supporting and often calls me to see how i'm getting on.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary and benefits package is very good for an apprenticeship, I even get a van to get me to work. I have no issue meeting my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of opportunities such as team events, events in the various BT clubs, and volunteering. BT gives me 4 days paid leave a year so that I can volunteer locally.

  • Yes

  • They are Personal, Simple, Brilliant.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Don't be afraid if you haven't done something like this before, neither had I. The training and support is absolutely first class.
