  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I've learnt much more than I could have hoped for in this apprenticeship, college isn't as relative but on-the-job training is always positive, informative, clear and always has a good team atmosphere. We also have lunchtime talks and meetings to give us booster shots of knowledge and we can opt into these if they're something we're interested in. I've also developed personally especially with people skills as my boss has always boosted my confidence to talk to people instead of sending emails and communicate to them which helps speed up the job. I've also developed on a personal level with things like keeping fit, my bay all work out and keep fit so this has a knock on effect for me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Never been happier at a place of work. Arup is such a positive and kind company they offer the right opportunities to the people right for them. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I'm in a job that I love to come to, unlike most bosses in other firms, my boss is very encouraging and friendly. Arup definitely rewards people for their hardwork.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • Unlike other firms, any job you do here you always get thank yous and appreciative gestures, I also like the fact that some engineers ASK for me and ask for me to do jobs, and they always take the route and pass down the jobs that will help me learn and progress. They understand I'm young, unexperienced and new.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Training Provider (Stetga) isn't great, but it's sufficient and does the job, but Arup makes up for that. My mentor helps me with everything and If I need something and he doesn't know the answer, he'll find it out for me or someone in Arup will.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The Salary and benefits are great. More than Double my previous wage which was a "Good Wage". The benefits are great also, I have free dental care and travel insurance which is great. We also have received two payrises in six months. For settling in well.

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Arup is the best company I've worked for and all my friends that have apprenticeships are jealous of the perks, atmosphere and wage I have here. It's genuinely such a nice company to work for and you never get bored as there are milestones and "Grades" to shoot higher for.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • Be yourself, Apply to them directly and be honest in your interview, if they think you belong in another department, they'll recommend you try that one and they will always try to tailor you to perfectly fit that section. Dress smart.
