Test Analyst/ Lead - Running test activities, scripting and automation. Managing JIRA tasks and allocating work to other test resources. Carry out other Lead activities carrying out reviews and manage confluence spaces and workload allocation. Act as a buddy to new starters providing feedback and assist with their general queries etc.
Became 'Senior' recently following promotion and have learnt new work management skills and allocating to resources tasks created. Also act as buddy/ mentor to new starters to pass on knowledge
Enjoyed experience thoroughly. Feel was better under QA learning and would do it again despite being some time ago. Before moving to 'newer' work environment was harder to be promoted however feel hard work has been recognized and I feel valued in the new environment.
Yes since moving to different space
left to own devices at start of apprenticeship but if you manage your time well itll be fine. all about managing own time effectively and putting the effort in
Got given basic materials required however methods/ technology involved was a little dated at times
time to revise etc. couldn't have asked for more
New area certainly recognizes the effort people put in. However room for improvement for some people for example graduates can start on a significantly higher salary than those that have been here 4+ years. this is very unfair given the experience, fact that some grads aren't even from an IT background and will require training from people are who on less than them. this can be highly frustrating and I know it is discussed often. However area seem to be trying to improve this however I feel more should and can be done to help those with more experience - look after them and they'll stay as this is a great place to work!
Yes - plenty of work outside of office however the rewards for doing so should be better i.e. cash incentives
Yes
I wouldn't be where I am today without the company and I don't regret joining for a second. They have given me the skills and a career for life and for that I am truly grateful for this opportunity.
With regards to the apprenticeship put the effort in take time out of your day to revise and get all coursework done ASAP and don't sit on it. get it out of the way and it'll all be a breeze. take advantage of any additional courses the company provides and make sure you have IT experience beforehand as this'll really help you to ease in and pick things up faster.
