  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I work on an agile team of 5, we have been augmented out for our client requiring me to work internally in Cap for external work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • While working at Capgemini I've had many different opportunities to take up different training externally and build up my knowledgebase from inside Cap. I've been able to travel and stay in Manchester for a week learning Pentaho that I've later used in a different team I joined, Capgemini also put on a coding boot camp getting me up-to-speed after I joined.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my daily work on my team, I'm not stuck doing menial or repetitive tasks each day and can take on as much responsibility as I think I can manage. There are lot's of events taking place internally to take part in, the general culture and environment is a really pleasant place to work in and always manages to make me feel encouraged.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • Cap has lot's of opportunities for you to do your own additional work, personally my team and I have had articles put in different places about the work we are doing with the benefit of getting to enjoy paid for team meals. There is an internal recognition system where you can be rewarded for what you do and I see it used frequently, this is based around the 7 core values used in the company so you know what they thought you did best.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From the start I have been quickly informed and told of future prospects and what I'd be doing in the future. Capgemini has a great induction period of getting to meet other peoples in the same boat as you who maybe don't quite know what they've got themselves into. You can quickly build up your own support systems but Cap is always looking out for you and if you need help you'll be sure to get it.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training provider is always a quick e-mail away for any questions with them being very organized online, there are many places telling you where you need to go or who to contact if you have queries on anything you're doing. If you do ask for help they're very friendly and have a good willingness to assist you, I definitely haven't had a bad experience with dealing with them.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Capgemini has a large built-up support system that only continues to grow larger as more and more people join. You are given a buddy when you join who can answer any questions sitting down and talking with you to explain anything else you may need help with. They're is always a real willing and eagerness to help each other out that I think is very visible to everyone here.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I've never had any problems with my salary supporting me, it covers my rent and fuel for my car I use to travel in each day with a nice amount left to indulge in hobbies or go out and meet friends.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of other things that you can do internally if you want to give that a try, Cap has many giving back events and charity fundraising chances that you can take part in. Personally I did a lot with the Princes trust last year that gave a really wonderful chance to push myself out of my comfort zone and work on something great.

  • 9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I wish more of my friends would have gone on to do apprenticeships and get to experience what I am now, for me I never enjoyed the direct appeal of University and I think that some people just don't see these programs as brilliant ideas and are dissuaded.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • I think the best tip is to be eager and want to enjoy what you are going to do, Capgemini can tell who is excited to try new things and people who have a real passion for the job. There can be a lot of waiting in the process as there are a lot of people to look through but I'd say definitely stick with it as it's been perfect for me.
