  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I perform the role of an applications consultant providing level 3 support for external clients. I resolve incidents, problems and change requests via an ITSM tool.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained many new skills including programming in Java, SQL, C, and Scala. I have gained this experience either at work or at the university. I have several qualifications for completing Oracle courses. I have also gained substantial experience in working with and supporting Oracle E-Business Suite.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme has been continually challenging and the work I do has progressively expanding alongside my skillset. I have worked in teams varying from 5 to 30+ people and has for the most part been rewarding and insightful. The company has always been flexible to my demands and the culture is very welcoming and a very low-pressure environment. I have enjoyed this position overall and I'm happy with my work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • I feel valued as an apprentice, I feel this is in part to do with profit gained from an apprentice being able to perform work beyond their pay grade. However with that said I feel my pay and progression framework is good and the work assigned to me has been engaging and ever expanding

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The GAP framework within Capgemini is a great format allowing apprentices to gain promotions and attend university simultaneously.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The framework is very much self lead. There has always been a lack of framework for direct tutoring which I feel may have helped progess my skillset much quicker.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The supportI receive is great. I have had little problems throughout my time at Capgemini and any issues I have brought forward have been handled well and rectified quickly.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary is competative however I fear this may stagnate soon as my apprenticeship comes to an end.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of oppurtunities south of the border to get involved with but very few near Glasgow. With no oppurtunity for expensed travel is not possible to attend any such events.

  • Yes

  • A great company with an interest in developing its junior talent.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Do background research into the possible roles you are applying for. Understand that although coding is important the company is looking for the best people who can engage with clients and fellow colleagues.
