  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. I have a good bond with others on my programme and have made a lot of new friends because of my apprenticeship. I enjoy going into plant every day and working with different colleagues and developing my skills further as the years progress. I also enjoy going into college and learning off my tutors about the proper ways to perform tasks, such as electrical installs. The programme has gave me a lot of confidence in the world of work and has opened my eyes to how major companies operate.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLR?
  • I feel very valued by Jaguar Land Rover, they offer a wide range of employee benefits that really help. For example they offer an on site gym and swimming pool for us to use at a discounted rate. They also offer me an amazing pension plan where they will double what I pay in, this helps me and makes me feel comfortable with my future. Furthermore I’m given great bonuses in the summer as a thankyou from the company for all our work producing and selling cars.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is fairly well organised. At the start of the programme there was a weeks induction which showed us videos and photos about the business and let us into plans about the future of JLR. Furthermore we had a weeks college induction where everything about the college was showed to us, things such as the workshops, classrooms and the library facility. Finally they have a system of moving me around sites so i can really learn how every plant works and how I can benefit that plant with my skills.

  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider, I have my own work based learning manager that often comes to see me to check on my progress. We also have 1-1 reviews every 8 weeks where I discuss positive and negative aspects about my job role and how it could be improved. My trainer also sends emails about training courses and websites I can visit to better my understanding of being an electrician.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is great to work for, there is never a high pressure to perform your tasks in a certain time, I am allowed to do the tasks in my own time and at the speed I would like. They offer great pensions, benefits and a good discount scheme on cars. The pay is very good and the managers are fair and value you.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Being yourself is a main tip when applying, trying to be someone who you’re not isn’t a good way of entering the business. The managers value honesty and will help you out in every way possible when you need it.
