  • My role is working in the engine test department of powertrain at Whitley. On a day to day basis I ensure correct engines are being tested within the expected time frame

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to operate a range of machinery such as lathes, overhead cranes and drills. I have also learned how to write assignments in the Harvard format. In addition to learning the inner mechanical workings of an engine.

  • I enjoy my programme immensely as it allows me to get relevant skills and qualifications whilst working in my job role and being paid a wage.

  • I feel especially valued by my tutors and colleagues in jlr and feel as though I can really contribute to the betterment of the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There are certain aspects that could have been structured and organised better in relation to the higher education side of the apprenticeship so learning is more manageable. However the block system is effective in workshop modules such as turning

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have received a lot of support in the workshop in relation to training and understanding new concepts. This is also true for asset, materials and moths modules in HE.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When I’m in plant I receive a lot of support from supervisors and colleagues who ensure I’m doing well and that I’m carrying out tasks effectively

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For my age I’m extremely happy with the salary I’m receiving. In addition I’m also happy with the pay rises that occur every 6 months

  • There are several opportunities to better yourself through jlr which the company encourages through there employees learning scheme.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend jlr to my friends due to the fact that the opportunities you receive are endless and the growth you go through is excellent.
