  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in CSS (Customer Service and Support) as a Global Social Media Analyst. I am doing a level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. My main purpose is to review customer survey responses regarding Microsoft's Social Media Customer Support. I also review a lot of data analytics to find improvement opportunities for Microsoft's services.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Microsoft gives free access to training websites like Lynda.com where employees can take training courses. There are a wide range to choose from, and some can even prepare you for MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) exams. An example of a MOS exam that I have completed is Excel essentials.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Microsoft?
  • I do feel valued by Microsoft as they provide you with so many opportunities to improve yourself. There are events that run, extra projects you can get involved with, and plenty of training resources. Additionally, there are quarterly Connect meetings with your manager to review your progress over the time period.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme seems well structured, but I think it could be better if the tutor could help Apprentices with coursework more often. I personally feel like my work is not marked often enough. But the Digital Marketing Programme is fairly new so I understand that it is not perfect.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I enjoy the programme but I personally think the training could be improved by more regular visits with my mentor, and not being told different things by different mentors.
