  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was as a team member on various audit clients. On a daily basis I created a plan for the day of tests to perform on different financial statement line items. I communicated with other team members and key client contacts in order to obtain sufficient appropriate evidence for each area I was focusing on.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed a lot of different skills on my work placements. I have learnt how to communicate effectively to obtain what you want, whilst being empathetic to the demands that others are facing. I have learnt a lot of technical skills in how to account for things appropriately. I have got a lot better at using excel and similar professional programmes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement programme and found it very enriching. The work I performed challenged me and taught me a lot, which I found very rewarding. I integrated well with my work colleagues and had a lot of good team atmospheres that made work fun. I enjoyed being in a professional environment, performing work which was important and was going to be used by various individuals, it felt like it had a good purpose.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • I felt very valued by PwC from the beginning of my placement to the end. I was regularly thanked and rewarded for my hard work and input in to different jobs. There were regular social events to celebrate work we had completed and ultimately profits we generated for the firm.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well organised and structured. From applying to the university course, where we had an application process with PwC which was accompanied by a lot of information creating an expectation for us over the next years. We had good welcomes to our office with an introductory talk and tour. We were always made aware of what was happening.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training provider was the University where we studied. I felt very support by them. I had a lot of support available to me with my studies and once I joined placement I had people I could contact if I needed help or advice. There were good systems in place

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support and had a good network of helpful contacts whilst on placement at PwC. I had a people manager, who I had regular meetings with and who showed a genuine care for my progress and well-being. I also had members of older year groups who acted as buddy’s and could provide me with advice of their own experiences.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I received a very competitive salary and overtime payments. Additionally, PwC provided me with accommodation whilst on placement and also covered all bills. My package met all my needs and has set me up well for returning to university after my placement.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities to take part in extra activities outside of work. There are sports clubs that everyone can join, including football, badminton, and golf. Also, we have table tennis tables and pool tables in the breakout area of our office which means we can have a break from work with something different.

  • 9. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC are an excellent firm with a world renowned reputation. Getting the opportunity to work for a firm who value their staff very highly and put a lot of focus on continuing professional and technical development. I have learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed my placements there.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • I would recommend anyone who wants to apply for PwC to thoroughly research the firm, including what PwC outside of work tasks (charity contributions). Also, I would recommend that they learn about the line of service they are interested in and the skills needed to excel in that division.
