  • I am a project controls apprentice. Daily tasks include helping members of staff with databases and learning what different sections of project controls entail.

  • I have improved my Microsoft Excel skills and completed various training courses on health and safety and engineering.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work as the hours are good, I am well paid and the staff are friendly and helpful.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EDF?
  • As this is the first approved project controls apprentice in the country, I feel very valued by EDF Energy and we are constantly reminded that we are the future for project controls.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme is good, however, I feel that some staff are not sure what to teach us and, as this is a busy time for them, are not available to help us as much as we would like.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training providers are all very good and value our input in making sure we get the best out of this course.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from our mentor and she is very approachable and wants to make sure we are enjoying what we do.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary/package meets my costs very well as I am only 18 years old, on a high level apprenticeship with no bills to pay.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I am unaware as to whether there are many outside events to do with the company but I assume that there will be opportunities in the near future.

  • 9. Would you recommend EDF to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The money is good, there are many opportunities to progress with the company and the working environment is friendly.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?
  • The on boarding process is very easy, just make sure you leave an impression on the employers as it is important to not be shy or overly quiet.
