  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Business Manager Apprentice An overview of my role is that I look after the alignment of RBI participants, making sure that they are aligned to the correct accounts which they work on within the internal system so that they get paid the correct amount of money. My daily tasks and daily internal interactions include speaking and meeting with RBI participants and reviewing their quota targets if they do not think something is correct, my responsibility is to try and solve their issues or give them answers.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As we are the 4th batch of Apprentices i feel as if the on boarding and training has been structured in a very effective and efficient way as it has been done a number of times. I am the third apprentice to be in my team which means the role and apprenticeship has been very orgsnised and the team know the structure of my apprenticeship and my Course.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • At Microsoft there are various teams and opportunities available which give opportunities outside of work. For example I am part of an internal team called YouthSpark which gives me the opportunity to visit schools and careers fairs and promote the early in career schemes at Microsoft to people who were like myself and are looking to apply for apprenticeships.

  • 9. Would you recommend Microsoft to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It gives you the opportunity to learn and develop skills which I believe other companies will not offer. It also gives you the freedom to go beyond the 'standard' apprenticeship structure to learn and do other things which are possibly beyond and not applicable to your job role.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Microsoft?
  • Focus more on your skills as a person and your personality, e.g mindset, other than the knowledge which you know about the industry or your business knowledge. Companies like Microsoft would much rather a person will a low knowledge with a mindset which is willing to learn and take on new challenges and be persistent rather than the other way round.
