  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

    • Mechanical and Electrical Engineer Daily Diary Updates, Checking on Sub-Contractors, Going through electrical panels site wide (checking for faults, making sure they read t other instruments and SCADA, etc.), Inductions, can be to fit instruments or tight/loosen bolts.

    • Level 2 in electrical and mechanical engineering 3 day first aid course Cat and Genny Course Using various different tools The process of the site

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

    • The team make the day relaxing and enjoyable to be at The journey to and from work isn't to long

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Costain?

    • Don't feel valued as there are no regular interactions with HR or Line Manager to see how things are progressing

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

    • Not vary well organising as I don't know the path I'm leading as no one has gone through anything with me or discussed anything

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

    • Tutors at college are not too bad in helping me when at college

    • people within the company are not helpful and I have to rely on myself to sort things out or to get in contact with them

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

    • well I cant really do much about it as its an apprenticeship wage, but I do get a petrol allowance which is very helpful

    • yeah

    • Yes

    • as there are many different opportunities that can meet peoples needs, however the apprenticeship program can be sorted out a bit

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Costain?

    • Make sure you know exactly what the career path is and what the program can do for you
