I am a trainee claims underwriter in the London Market Claims team. I handle GL, PI, and Political Risk claims. I work in various projects and have various responsibilities. I am yet to have claims authority but this is my next goal
I am getting my ACII qualification as part of the scheme, and have also learnt valuable social and life skills. I have been on various training courses including IT, debating, presenting, mentoring
I enjoy working at Hiscox, and being part of the programme. My team is great. However, morale has been low recently as been presented in the staff survey. We are all happy in claims though, as always
I feel incredibly valued within my team. However, externally I feel claims is underappreciated. However, it appears this is a market feeling and not just a Hiscox one. I am happy being part of the claims team, and at this current moment in time do not want to move either division or company
It appears to be more structured than my previous one, and I'd like to review this again in a years time as I trust the FWD programme process will improve. Team processes are great. I have a great system in place with my mentor, and we catch up regularly. He's been very helpful in building my confidence as I've spent more time at Hiscox.
I received a tutor on the last course and that was helpful. A lot of my training is paid for by Hiscox. We are at an early stage of this course so this could change. It was very disorganised last year but both Hiscox and FWD have worked tirelessly to ensure this wont happen again, and you cant ask for much more than that
Hiscox supports me very well from a claims and HR perspective. I feel comfortable being here. My manager(s) is great, and the support both bottom up and top down is great. I get multiple opportunities in this team, and age is certainly just a number.
I'm happy with this. I'm currently living at home so it works for me. It's great to still be a teen (for a month!) and receive the pay I receive
There are a variety of opportunities, not many sway my interests though. I want to start a rugby 7s team here but it is difficult to interest people.
Yes
My answer was more 50/50. I would definitely recommend to a young person joining who was taking on a junior role. However given job uncertainty due to Hiscox pulling out of so many lines of business it could be quite a hard sellfor those looking for slightly more senior roles.
