Flying Start 2 Review

My placement encompassed me being an auditor. My role as an auditor was to perform tests to gain comfort over the numbers that companies use in their financial statements

As part of my course, I will become accredited for 12 of the 15 ICAEW exams, and will do the final 3 a few months after leaving University. I have learnt new skills this year due to testing more areas such as Accounts Payable and Inventories.

I enjoy this programme a lot.

I feel somewhat of an included member of the office.

This programme is overall very well organised.

University ensures my disability needs are met, which is a massive help.

At work we are each assigned a people manager, who is there to answer any issues you have around work (not explicitly for each client, that's more of an in-charge issue). This helps me feel supported throughout placement, as she would check up on me and see if I had any problems with life whilst on placement.

PwC cover the cost of my flat, which is a big help.

PwC is a leader in its sector in the business world, and provides a high level of exposure to challenging work and good progression. They are a relatively young business, and take time to listen to our problems, and do their best to make sure we are as happy as possible whilst working here. This makes me feel more motivated despite working long hours on placement.

The application process is very challenging, and I would recommend taking time to practice answering PwC-style interview questions, as well as practising psychometric tests. Both of these will form part of the induction process, as well as a group exercise in which you will be given a scenario, and will have to use your business acumen to tackle the issue at hand.
