  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an aviation account handler based in Chelmsford. My day to day role consits of managing my renewal book along with dealing with new enquiries. Towards to end of my apprenticeship, i have been allocated a charity to fundraise and raise awareness for, called out corporate social responsibility project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joining Aon in September 2016, i feel that i have developed my communicational skills very well, especially via email and also verbally. I have expanded my knowledge on the Aviation industry and feel that in the last 12/14 months i have absorbed a lot of information.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my job role and the apprenticeship very much. I feel that I am treated as a member of the team. The apprenticeship has given me confidence and knowledge development. I have engaged with my colleagues who are not in my division as a result of my apprenticeship programme which is great.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aon?
  • I feel very valued at Aon. I am included within the team meetings and have an opportunity to bring my own ideas to the table. Each apprentice is given their own work laptop and individual responsibility within their teams and alos, most importantly, the apprenticeship. We have weekly meetings with our apprenticeship groups to ensure everyone is keeping up to date.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel like my apprenticeship project is well structured. We are told well in advance when our training days are, the phone calls are booked in advance too to ensure all apprentices are free. We have a 12 week project towards the end of our apprenticeship, which was prepared and distrubted at the beginning of our apprenticeship. This is well structured and well organised.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I recevie a lot of training from our external training providers, the growth company. They ensure that all apprentices' have sufficient training and materials to complete the appreticeship. We are provided with the CII text books and also a lot of external training that consist of presentations and mock exams.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel that i receive a lot of support from my employers. I am offered study days for my exams as well as extra time during the week to revise or complete any documents for my apprenticeship. Within the team i receive plenty of guidance and mentoring from the senior members of the team.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I feel that my salary is very competite in comparison to other broking houses within the marketplace. We are offered competitive benefits within the company along with frequent team nights out. These evenings allow us as a team to engage on a social level.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, i have made friends with many other apprentices and have socialised outside of working hours. My team and I regularly attend the local pub quiz, we interact with other employees from Aon and this is a great opportunity to network.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel that Aon are a great company to work for who provide many benefits to the employees, along with great job opportunities. The structure of the apprenticeship is very good and so is the business units. i receive plenty of guidance and mentoring from the senior members of the team.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • When applying for the role, be confident and engaging. Read up about Aon and ensure that you are well equipt if any questions in regards to the company arise. If yo uare unsure on anything, just ask. Ask about what opportunities are available to you and how you can excell your career and explore fiurther opportunities.
