  • Apprentice aircraft engineer, daily tasks inculde checking all tools, carrying out servicing on the aircraft,

  • Learn new skills every day, learning different parts of the aircraft and how things work

  • I enjoy the programme very much, been hands on is something i enjoy and the job is mostly hands on

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • Hanger is managed by a different company, so we dont have much interaction with BAE on a day to day

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • NVQ side is pretty straight forwards, needs more consistency between assessors, whats acceptable for one might not be for the other.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Overall support is fairly good, sometimes difficult to get in contact with a trainer, as there are no assessors on site, we rely on email, but this is sometimes missed/ignored.

  • Supports there when needed

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary is probably above average for an apprentice although its difficult on the low wage as your expected to move away and rent your own place in the second year.

  • Our base has alot of community activities your encouraged to get involved with

  • Yes

  • Massive company, with opportunities to go wherever you want in the company


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Dont expect a fast application process, and don't be worried if you don't hear anything for a while, be confident and prepared
