  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The Work is standard but still much better than average jobs The team im currently working in is great, but it will change and might turn out worse. I have friends in the course who say there team is work hard kind, whereas others have very easy going managers who set bad examples. So overall it depends who I get. My first year I got placed within a great team. Met my expectations and then exceeded Im enjoying it still.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I get appreciation from manager after doing my work, Im quite involved in some important things that escalate up the business. I do tasks that has to be signed by the director of the business since so much money is involved, from the start of forecasting to mid year, to making a request for more funding. I take main force on this task and it gets overlooked to see if everything is correct. I feel valued since they can trust me to get onto it without much guidance.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well I can see the structure as a whole, but they are trying new things with our year and some of it isn't working and has been some hiccups. Like forexample, future years didn't have a skills coach but our year did. Since its the first year the scheme had a skills coach, its become unorganised and things are less fluid. But im sure the issues will be ironed out once its been going for 2-3 years.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I get a lot of support, since I needed extra help in my exams during college, they have supported me with this. The Teacher I have had in my first year has been amazing, but future years we will not be getting the same teacher. I enjoyed it this year, but first year is rather casual.

  • There is a lot of support from the employer, constant training days for the new years, they have a union, they have a mentor available to you if you are in need of one. We have personal line managers that answer all our questions and take the time to sit with us and go through tasks we wouldn't know how to do.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, but I do not attend that much since my limited transport currently. Like there is a football team and many events that involve the two sites going against each other. There are also gyms that can be used and there is discounts for many different places if you work for BAE.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Good Pay, Good Job, Good experience, Degree with no debt.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Stick through it, if you really want this job, maybe apply the year after if unsuccessful the first year. Just learn from your mistakes and prove to them you are the a suitable project manager. The application is long and painful, but think if you cant complete it, then clearly you are not capable of doing the job. You need to be willing to go through all the process with an open mind that you could potentially be working for this company.
