  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As I am training to become a warehouse team manager, my core duties include running the intake, pick and outload operations in the warehouse whilst also managing our set teams of warehouse employees. Other jobs include conducting start of shift briefs, retun to works and accident investigations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many on the job skills since joining and know how to operate many different kinds of machinery and computer programs. Other skills I have developed are communication skills and organisational skills, this is because I am dealing with teams of operatives on a day to day basis and know how to communicate with these people in order to get the best results.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my program and I feel that it has been a constant learning curve since I have arrived. Every day is different as it is a very people orientated role, this can also prove as a challenge but the challenge keeps the job fresh and enjoyable

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Gist Ltd?
  • Since joining,Gist have sent me on many internal training programmes to try and progress my knowledge even further than the apprenticeship scheme. I feel they want me to progress as much as possible and try to get the best out of me.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been clear on what the plan is for the future and previously the work we have been set has been clear. If any help has been needed we have known who to ask and the help has been provided

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The tutors previously have all been enthusiastic in the way they have delivered workshops and set work. They have always been easy to contact if there has been any issues and they give off the message they want us to succeed not only with the work they set but also within our roles in the company.

  • Gist have provided me with support right the way through my apprenticeship, if I have every had any issues with work I have been set I can approach anyone within the company for support alongside my tutor

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My pay package exceeds what I envisioned myself to be on while on an apprenticeship. I can comfortably pay all of my bills off in a month with some disposable income left over for non-necessities such as holidays

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have volunteered at events in local schools such as careers fairs, and also been to mock interview sessions to help students develop their interview skills. The company has also hosted 6 a-side football tournaments for its employees that I have competed in

  • Yes

  • The support from the company since joining has been consistent and I feel they are really keen to develop their workers. I have seen many people progress in the company due to the training and sup[port they provide


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gist Ltd?
  • Be prepared because the application process can not be taken with a pinch of salt, it requires application forms, telephone interviews and assessment days where you will be expected to conduct face to face interviews, perform a presentation to a group and also group excersises
