  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a store apprentice so in my first year I will be learning all of the store assistant roles and how to do the basic day to day jobs of a store assistant such as customer service and stocking. Then in my second and third year I will move onto management where I will lead a team on a shift, control the safe and do a lot more training on top of what I learn in the first year

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme as it gives me a real grasp of the retail job role, all the people I work with are very hard-working and experienced people that I get along well with. It’s been one of the best decisions of my life to join the apprenticeship scheme at aldi.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • I feel like a really valued member of the team as the managers are constantly giving me good feedback and have really spent the time developing me into an all rounder and giving me very useful experience for the business and similar businesses.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is fairly well organised but the independent company that organised the coursework and the retail qualification could be more organised to suit my rota when scheduling visits.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a good amount of support as the training provider does give me help on workbooks and answering questions if I need any assistance and also how I can use my experiences in store as an advantage to my coursework

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always receive lots of support from my employer as everyone helps each other. I can ask anything to the managers and they will almost certainly know how to help and the training has been really beneficial to me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I am still living at home so I don’t need a massive wage and it is sufficient enough for me to live in whilst saving up for things and living at home. It’s a good wage for an apprenticeship at this level.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There isn’t much to do outside of the workplace in terms of my apprenticeship as most of my experience comes from when I am working.

    7/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good company to work for as they are all about people and helping those who work for them and the customers that come into the store. I feel really passionately about my job and I enjoy going there Day after day to see the friends I have made in my coworkers and experiencing something new every day.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Confidence is very important as they strive off of the people that know they can work efficiently and work hard consistently. You need to be mature and you have to want to work in Aldi as it took me 2 applications to get the job
