  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As well as developing existing skills such as presentation and calls, to customers etc. this helped me gain confidence in presenting and talking to customers and others, I have also gained some new skills in doing the job I do, such as Blue Prism, which is a tool I use almost everyday to help build processes, with my apprenticeship too, I have also so far done courses in Linux shell scripting and SQL.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Equans?
  • Working in Engie I do feel valued, in the first month of being here they took all apprentices to High Borrans for a week of team bonding, this made us feel appreciated as they went out of their way to take us, and also recognition from my manager when building or receiving grades from courses.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship program is well structured, once a month or equivalent to that I have a learning course with my apprentice program, in coding, and I week on from that I have a catch up/ review call with my 'tutor' who helps me through my courses and also asks if I'm currently facing any problems in my course etc.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • In regards to my training provider, I receive a lot of help, going back to my previous answer, I have monthly catch up 1-2-1 calls with my tutor, who asks about my previous course and feedback from my managers and teachers, then also asks me if everything is going well in my apprenticeship and if I still enjoy it etc.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get a lot of support from within the team I work in, when I'm building something there's always someone to lend a helping hand, they are all supportive and when something is done well there's always prays, which is always a good confidence booster.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As an 18 year old, still living at home I don't have many/ any at all mandatory bills to pay apart from putting petrol in my car, so the majority of my salary is disposable, for the time being.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Outside of work there are many, like previously stated we went away for a week as all apprentices for team bonding, we also have a chance in my team as RPA to do 2 CSR days a year, to go out and help the community, next month ill be going to a high school to speak to students about what we do and about my apprenticeship as a whole.

  • 9. Would you recommend Equans to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • In general I've always favored apprenticeships to University, so being an apprentice I would encourage it regardless, but within Engie there are so many opportunities to progress and excel etc. They are so helpful in helping you to progress in your apprenticeship and good life skills and people skills.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans?
  • In terms of applying for anywhere for an apprenticeship, always having at least a little bit of background knowledge in what you want to do and seem passionate about, it always portrays across well, having a knowledge in the business is always a positive to the interviewer too, if you show you know about the business and are keen to work for them can go along way.
