  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is Facilities Assistant at Fujitsu. This involves various aspects of building management such as on site building projects, the management of COSHH and contractors on site e.t.c.. As part of facilities for the building, we also grant access to particular rooms within the building, as well as access onto site. We have a lot of dealings with the Post Room, I am trained to work in the Post Room and also as Receptionist for site.

  • I have learnt various skills whilst working as an apprentice in Facilities. I am now fully aware of most of the business documentation that has to be maintained as well as being able to maintain it and write it myself. My customer service and focus skills have greatly improved whilst working here. I have also developed my team working skills whilst working with a close team from the time I started.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Now that I am with a different Apprenticeship Provider it is much more structured. I know exactly what coursework I am expected to complete on a monthly basis and any work that I send off is quickly evaluated and marked. If I have not completed something correctly I am given time to add information and helped to ensure that I understand what the criteria is asking of me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • In the first year my salary did not meet my costs – if I had been living away from home at the time there would I been no way for me to pay living costs/travel costs. Now that I am in my second year and my salary has increased I am much more comfortable in this sense.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities outside work to get involved in community projects or the local college/school. In my spare time I do not much in my spare time now but used to be involved in a local wildlife charity, rehabilitating injured and sick wildlife to be released back into the local area.
