  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider helps us a lot with the education section of our course. When we are at college they provide good delivery of lectures and they also provide feedback on the work submitted. The NVQ assessors are also in regular contact to ensure we are up to date and they also offer help and guidance when we need it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a lot of support offered from advisors. We have apprenticeship advisors who are there to ensure we are being treated correctly ad they set out the course. We also have advisors within the workplace who aid us with our learning.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is good for an apprenticeship and BAM Nuttall also cover travel expenses as well as any additional living costs that need to be paid for the job. The work is sometime in remote locations but that is due to the civil engineering industry more than the company and the apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a lot of company events and activities. This is good for team building

  • 9. Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good opportunity where you can learn a lot, start a career and earn money while doing it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • I would advise them to ask a lot of questions and don't be shy because the company is very welcoming and happy to help. I would advise them to put the selves forward for all out of work activities as they are great way to bond with your teams and also very enjoyable for everyone involved. I would also recommend asking a lot of questions in the interview about the company so you get a good understanding of what the 4 year process will give you as an apprentice.
