  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Field Service Engineer. On a day to day basis my job consists of fixing/maintaining and the on-site installation of a wide variety of office and large format printers. My role as well as technical is also very customer orientated with loads of customer interaction, from phoning ahead before going to a job, to being on site. Interaction within the business takes place on a day to day basis. This can consist of phoning other engineers for help or advice, and reporting administration work to your manager or to the relative part of the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed alot of new skills with Canon as well as improved the skills I already had. Training internally has happened alot with new products that are released, this can be at a training centre or over Canon`s online e-learning portal. This has given me alot of technical skills in both electrical and mechanical, as well as IT and network skills. Personally Canon has helped me to develop my customer interaction skills and business skills through the administritive work that has to be carried out on a day to day basis.
