  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently undertaking an Investment consulting apprenticeship. My job is to give advice to clients on where to invest their money in order to raise money for their pension schemes. My daily tasks include; checking emails, contacting managers, writing reports and analysing graphs. I regularly get involved in client related projects too

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently studying towards the IMC level 4 qualification which is an essential course in which introduces students to the basics and fundamentals of the investment industry. It is a fun and engaging course made of two modules taken over a year period. I have also learned a wide range of skills on programmes such as Excel which allow me to complete my work quicker and to a higher standard

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much. The course is very engaging and the people I work with are always supportive. The work load is often to a good level where my abilities can be tested and where I can be challenged but it's never to a level that the experts could do

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aon?
  • As an apprentice I feel like a valued member of the Aon Community. Regular progress meetings with my manager both formally and informally allow me to feel a part of the team both inside and outside of the office. Aon treats me the same way as every other employee helping me feel like the company appreciate my services

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From the very start of the programme the structure over the programme is of the highest level. The course begins with a 2 week introduction helping us to team build, make friends and learn the basic skills for the job. The studying is fully funded my Aon. We receive text books, videos and lectures from external companies ensuring we are fully prepared for all our exams.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Knowledgepool have played a huge part in my intergration from school into the working world. My talent coach always ensures I am happy both inside and outside of work. We talk on the phone weekly and meet in the office monthly to track progress. My talent coach has also helped me progress with revision and log book work.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Aon has also giving me large amounts of support during my time here. Alongside all the free revision material and coursework time. The company also plays a massive part in the development of my career through regular workshops and development schemes. All the senior people are always prepared to help with any questions you may have.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary well exceeds my costs. I am able to pay off all my essential costs like travel with my monthly salary and always have more than enough spare to spend on myself. The company also gives regular bonuses and pay rises when you pass exams ensuring there are always incentives to further your career

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a huge range of events available outside of work. Alongside training programmes, I have had many opportunities to do talks to external organisations about my apprenticeship. We also have a wide range of sporting activities available for people of all abilities and there are regular team socials outside of working hours

  • Yes

  • AOn is a great place to work with great people and allows for career progression. The opportunties are endless


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • Be yourself and be unique. Dont be affraid to say something different. Aon likes people to bring things to the table outside te norm
