  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i started this job back in 2015 and since ten ave completed a two year college course in construction and the built environment. I have learned a lot of good information that helps me with my job role and my future in this career. i would recommend this role to anyone who has good leadership qualities or wants to improve their people skills. This role involves lots of communication and people skills and also means you will be part of a team that has to meet deadlines on a construction project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learnt many new skills and will leave this apprenticeship with some good qualifications. i have also taken part in internal and national training courses such as fire marshal and first aid training which can be used in all walks of life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i really enjoy the programme as it is teaching me lots of key skills that will be helpful throughout life and also suited for my job role.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by John Sisk & Sons?
  • you get a lot of support from everyone in the company and even coming in at a lower level you dont feel below everyone else. you feel you can be trusted with tasks that higher levels of staff can bee trusted with and any help you need is there for you.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is very well organised and you clearly know what is going on at every stage of the course. you start with an induction and are provided with any training you need along the way. you also receive any support you need along the way.

  • you are assigned a line manager and they are there to support you and guide you throughout your course and time in the role.

  • you can receive support from any level in the company whenever you need it. any problems you have a dealt with in a professional manor.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary starts of quite basic but does have the opportunity to increase with the role as it progresses. living in London the costs are high but the salary does cover this.

  • there are several company events per year which are nice to attend as you feel part of the bigger team.

  • Yes

  • i believe it to be a good company and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking to start a career in construction.

  • start early as it is very good experience to get while you are still learning and deciding what you want to do.
