  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a first year I spend 37 hours a week at college, this time is split between higher eductaion (studying the foundation degree) and doing workshop activities such as welding, engine build, turning, milling, fitting and CNC machining

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed many existing skills including people and communication skills in making new friends, also learnt many new skills in the workshop giving me an opportunity to try and develop skills in things I have never done before, i.e turning, welding, fitting etc

  • Met my expectations well and although sometimes having a high workload it is enjoyable

  • Feel valued, especially when in plant.

  • Not very organised to begin with, but it is improving and there's a large number of apprentices to take in, so can be understood. Work Based Learning Managers (WBLMs) are very helpful.

  • There are many opportunities and are helped, supported and recommended to try new things and develop new skills out of work

  • Yes

  • Don't stress, it will be ok, there's a lot of support throughout the process and the interviewers are nice and most of them have gone through the apprenticeship
